Only Seven More Belts To Go

until he reaches Black Belt.

This Young Lad earned his Yellow Belt this past Saturday.
He has always been interested in Karate. Who knows why it took so long
to get him involved with actually doing the sport.

Along this path of finding something he was passionate about he's tried:

Soccer (too hard for him to stay focused when he rarely got the ball)
T-ball (twice, liked it but was ready to move on and try something new)
Art Class (though he loves to draw, it wasn't his style)
Musical Theater (three times and loved each play he was a part of)

But this past October he said to me, "Mom, now can I take Karate?"
and so we signed him up. And he has LOVED every moment of it.
But it is a long journey and who knows just how long it will take.
I just hope that he is as passionate about karate then as he is now.

Congratulations Big J on earning your Yellow Belt.
I look forward to celebrating with YOU
when you earn each of the other seven belts.

Mid-Wash

This is what you get when you are in the middle of washing dishes,
and your 2-year old tugs on you and says
"Hold You"

Everything is put on hold,
just to hold my child,
that won't stay little for long
and won't be asking to be held for much longer.

The dishes CAN wait.
I will try again in the morning.

Well On His Way

Tonight I attended a court of honor
where our Mr. T received the rank of Life.

The only things left he has to do are
earn his remaining 5 merit badges at summer camp,
and one Eagle Project.

He has been self-motivating in Scouts
and that is why he is so close to reaching his goal of
Eagle.

And thanks to a wonderful example of a far away friend,
I had T sew on his own merit badges to his sash,
and maybe for that he can earned a sewing merit badge?

I don't know, but we are sure PROUD of this young man.
