In The Last Last Few Weeks

We met the newest member of the Dean clan.
The new favorite baby cousin.

Just look at those smiles.  She keeps asking me where we can get a baby and put in my stomach so that she can have a little sister.

Attended our first soccer tournament of the season and the outcome was a hard fought 1st place finish in the Glory Tournament.  What a great accomplishment for Mr. P and his team.

Celebrated a Birthday-
Fancy Style with 7 little girlfriends and a few involved brothers.

And played with sparklers to celebrate the 24th.

The Haircut

Well-it lasted for almost four and half years.

Her hair, that curled at the ends, that I was always hesitant to cut.  That I loved to look at and to play with even if she didn't like me to.

She decided one day last week that her hair was being crazy.  So she took the scissors her brother had left downstairs on the floor and began to make her hair, well less crazy.

Her brother then came running upstairs yelling "she's cutting her hair".  And sure enough she had self layered the left side of her mane.

I then cut off a lot of the length because I knew it was going to have to be done anyway.  Then we took our first trip together to the hairdresser.  Where after finding out the person cutting her hair had the same name as her, she felt at ease and allowed that girl with the same name to shape her new short-length hair into something respectable.

And the end result.  Short hair.  That is learning to curl again.

School Is In..

for everybody, except the preschooler who starts next week.

Our Morning Schedule now begins at 6am when the oldest arises (and sometimes I am there to greet him) and goes through 8am when the youngest two boys step onto the school bus.

He is now a Sevie at the Middle School.
Roaming the halls looking for his classes,
opening lockers,

and sporting eyewear for the first time!

He did NOT want me to take his picture,
and he most certainly didn't want me to follow him to the bus stop, so I captured some photos from afar.

He is a Sophomore starting High School.

Wait did I just say HIGH SCHOOL.   As in the last stop before he leaves the nest and moves on to bigger and better things.

As in serving a mission and attending college.

As in my little family as I know it will probably never live under the same roof again after that.

Wow...I am getting way to ahead of myself, but time still isn't on my side and it isn't slowing down.  If anything it seems to be speeding up!

There is ONE more person who started school this week too, but he is on the teaching side of things.  I didn't get his picture but you can call him...

Birthday Boy and a Loose Tooth

Happy Birthday
Our Birthday Boy couldn't seem to eat all of his birthday breakfast.  After, when he got home from school he said that he was so full from his breakfast that he couldn't really eat his school lunch.   I think he had a good birthday.  He got to eat some of his favorite foods, got a delivery of donuts from his aunt and got to go to the store and pick out a brand new bike for his birthday present.  He picked a green one, his favorite color.

I cannot believe that my little blonde hair california boy is already ten years old.  Where have the years gone :(.  I still remember so clearly the day we celebrated his second birthday.

And speaking of growing up.  Look who lost their first tooth on his brother's birthday.  Yep, my little kindergartner.  He mentioned to me when he got home from school that his tooth was loose, I felt it and it was like almost falling out loose.  He played with it the rest of the evening and got it out just in time for bed and to put under his pillow for the tooth fairy.

You Know Your Kids Are Growing Up When...

they start shaving.

This morning he work up looking like Pedro from "Napoleon"
as my hubby would say,
and by the time he left for school,
he was clean shaven.

Okay, it wasn't that bad,
but it had grown very noticeable to me over the last month,
and I guess it finally got to him.

He probably wouldn't want me to be sharing such personal stuff
on a blog, but it is through him that I experience
my many FIRSTS as a mother.

Welcome to a lifetime of shaving, son.
